Having a few Studio Ghibli Mugs makes starting and ending my day just that much nicer. In the morning, I can enjoy looking at all the little images… without needing to use too much brain power. And in the evening, I can quiet my brain down by gazing at my favorite characters.
In Japanese, this shape is known as Yunomi. A yunomi is a form of teacup, which is used for daily “informal” drinking, unlike the formal chawan tea bowl. So, this mug is perfect for every day.
These Studio Ghibli Mugs by IF are sweet as can be!
Each one of these well made mugs is just over 4 inches tall, and almost 3 inches wide. The white porcelain is embossed with your favorite characters and symbols from two of everyone’s favorite Studio Ghibli films, “My Neighbor Totoro” and “Spirited Away“. Below each character and/or image from the film you will find the name of the image, in English and in Japanese, as well as the Japanese characters. So the mugs are also a great learning tool for anyone trying to learn a new language. And it’s not just main Characters… you will also find train and umbrella… bird and rice ball.
Because they are Porcelain, you can put them into the dishwasher and microwave… however, I would hand wash them, to keep the images bright.
The mugs are a great size, and they feel good in your hands when you drink from them.
Buy Both Mugs as a Set
At the moment, only these two mugs are available, but hopefully more will come along. But then, since I can only drink from one at a time, maybe two are enough.
These Studio Ghibli Mugs would make a great gift for any fan of Hayao Miyazaki’s films.
